On May 23, 2023, the European Union issued the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (EU GPSR Regulation). 

According to the EU GPSR regulation, starting from December 13, 2024, for products sold online or through other remote sales methods targeting EU consumers, the mailing address, electronic address, warning and safety information of the EU manufacturer or importer (or responsible person of overseas companies in the EU) should be provided. 

For products placed in the EU market, the product label should also indicate the mailing address and electronic address, unless the product is subject to specific EU coordinated legislation.

 In addition, the EU GPSR regulation reaffirms that products placed or provided on the EU market must be safe. Before launching a product into the EU market, manufacturers must conduct an internal risk analysis of all relevant aspects of the product, particularly its characteristics such as physical, mechanical, and chemical properties. The assessment also needs to consider the special needs and risks related to children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
